I’m considering offering a class on the subject since I have managed to perfect the art of not keeping up with this thing. My apologies to everyone on my must read list who I have been neglecting.
Boy oh boy have I been busy, and secretly I have to admit I am entirely pleased that last week is over and done with. I am entirely, and utterly birthday-ed out.
My official 21st birthday found me at a small Irish pub in Tampa- the small one roomed thatched roof bar was the location of my husbands 23rd birthday this year. Apart from the fact it’s a decent authentic Irish pub, we loved the live Irish music and as a given the Guinness products. Needless to say we both liked it so much we decided to go back for my 21st celebration as well. My brother decided to join me later in the evening with a few of his friends. I always forget what a riot my brother is, he is truly the life of every party. At one point in the evening he convinced the band to play Sweet Caroline for my birthday- and by the end of the song the entire bar was singing along. He truly made it a wonderful evening I will always remember.
Thanksgiving passed with its usual muster, of comings and goings. The food was absolutely divine, everything was wonderful. As usual the holiday curve ball hit hard as all 25 guest’s took their seats and my mother announced she was ‘retiring’ from cooking the holiday meal and passing the torch onto me next year. Thanks for the heads up, mom. And while I knew it was coming, it put me slightly in the lime light for much ribbing for the rest of the evening.
The next few days flowed into one another. Mr. Major and I spent all this weekend preparing for him to be gone for a week on business. That’s right folks. We finally broke down and bought those expensive blinds for downstairs, they look so wonderful and I will try to post pictures as soon as possible. They really change the way the room looks!
We also changed out the dead bolts in a few of the doors, installed some new lighting around the exterior of the house and installed curtains in a few of the upstairs rooms. I am gradually dragging out the Christmas items, but we wont pick out our real Christmas tree until this weekend. Nothing beats the smell of a real Christmas tree- it just screams Christmas!
Tonight’s my first night away from Mr. Major, and this Old House is a little lacking tonight. Hoping everything merry. -V
